HOW ARD ROARK
Howard Roark left his family and friends here on earth to be with his heavenly father on February 22,
2006. Howard was born on January 4, 1926. He was the youngest of the six children of Orbra and Florence Roark. Howard grew up on the family farm in Climax Springs, MO. At 17, he left his high school classmates and friends to serve his country in the Army during World War II. Howard worked for 33 years at PIE Truck Lines and retired in 1988. Howard also worked for the Overland Park Police Department for four years as a crossing guard for Rosehill Elementary School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Overland Park since 1988, where in the past several years he was the smiling face and strong handshake that greeted his fellow church members and friends. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Herbert and Merle. Howard leaves behind his wife, Betty Roark, who loved and cared for him every day of their wonderful 38 years together; two children: Bob Pike and Patty Lehn and their spouses Margie Pike and Jim Lehn; five grandchildren: Doug Poessiger and his wife Jessica, Ryan Lehn and his wife Meghann, Justin Lehn and his wife Katie, Erin Lehn and Andy Pike; three greatgrandchildren: Gage Poessiger, Gavin Puffer and Madelyn Lehn. His sister Grace Mowell and her husband Harper, and his sister Lucille Gardner; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Howard will be remembered by his family and friends for his softspoken, caring, gentle ways and his big smile. We will miss him.
